This hand-painted Magnificent Monarch Butterfly Lighted Shadow Box design was inspired by all of the beautiful Monarch Butterflies** fluttering around in my back yard! A butterfly is one of those creatures that shares joy everywhere it goes. Just take one look and they create joy and smiles. Bring this one home and have that butterfly joy every time you see it. When you surround yourself with things in your home that bring you joy, it's easy to feel more joyful everyday!
The black and orange Monarch Butterfly is hand-painted on top of the plexiglass. There are sparkly blue rhinestones on the front in each corner. The inside background wood is painted a light blue and all of the rest of the wood is left its natural color. There is a small flower cut out on each side of the shadow box frame.
** The reason that there are so many Monarch Butterflies in my backyard is because I have a lot of flowers, especially milkweed which is the Monarch's favorite. I also raise Monarch Butterflies from eggs. Check out the Joyful Monarch Butterfly page. There are lots of pictures and videos of the whole egg to butterfly metamorphosis. It's quite an amazing process! I even have links and info just in case you want to raise your own Monarch Butterflies so that you can help these beautiful creatures to continue to thrive out in nature!
The wooden shadow box measures 4" tall x 6" across x 1" deep. The front of the box is plexiglass. It is meant to be placed on a shelf or a tabletop. On the back, there's a little pouch where the battery pack for the fairy lights can be tucked inside. The fairy lights have an on/off switch and a button cell battery that can be replaced when needed.
